Welcome to the very first Gravity Plays, where we sit down with a game and share what caught our eye, surprised us, and made us want to keep playing.
For our debut, we are diving into the WiZmans World Re;Try demo, a traditional JRPG remaster that brings old-school party building, exploration, and charm to modern platforms with a Steam demo you can check out right now. This title is published by City Connection and Gravity.
Here’s what our team at Gravity Interactive had to say…
WiZmans World Re;Try blasts you straight into 90s JRPG nostalgia—like Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger reborn in HD pixel glory!
Turn-based? Still the gold standard—strategic chains, elements (Fire > Wind > Water > Earth), and timeline tactics keep it tense and rewarding.
From the start, Anima Fusion lets you absorb monster souls to evolve your homunculi trio (Aen, Doe, Toori) with custom stats, skills, and looks—party-building bliss! Build your team based on your play style.
I highly recommend giving this game a try!

TIP
Turn-based games of this kind can be heavily affected by speed, so experiment by fusing with some high AGI anima to get an advantage over slower enemies.
If you’ve been missing that old-school JRPG feeling, Wizmans World Re:Try might be exactly what you’re looking for.
It’s a classic-style JRPG that leans hard into nostalgia, but with a cleaner, more modern character presentation that keeps it from feeling dated.
One if its standout features is Anima Fusion, a system that lets you experiment with different combinations and tactics. Instead of locking you into one “correct” build, the game encourages trying things out mixing matching, and finding strategies that fit your playstyle.
If you’re craving a traditional JRPG experience with a fresh twist, I highly recommend giving it a shot. The demo is available on Steam, so it’s easy to jump in and see if it clicks with you.

WiZmans World Re;Try has a deeper world to explore.
There is a lot of dialog here, so if you like games with fleshed out stories and unique characters then this will be a good fit.
Each of the homunculi have very different personas which makes their interactions more interesting to read.
One other element I appreciated was that the main character is a mage. Often, in fantasy games the main character is a knight or “sword and board” warrior. Those games are fine but here it makes some sense as your fused homunculi become many different kinds of warriors to round out your party’s combat kit. This was a refreshing change for players like me who love to role a caster job by default.
In terms of visual presentation, the art style is a blend of clean, beautiful character renders and original sprite assets. This combination creates a unique visual aesthetic which still feels true to original late 2000s style of art direction yet updated for modern audiences used to high quality UI design.
Here, we can see comparisons of the original (LEFT) and the new remaster (RIGHT) which looks very nice.
