We are launching the long awaited Renewal update on our Renewal Test server : Yggdrasil! The launch will commence later today or tomorrow with maintenance, if everything continues to go as planned.
Yggdrasil will show up under Ymir if you launch the Ragnarok.exe client, but you will crash at character select using the “normal” client.
Yggdrasil and later all servers require a new client to be installed to a separate location from your normal RO folder. There is no “patch up” option for renewal due to the size and complexity of the update. As soon as the client is available for download we will make messages across the forums and websites announcing their location.
Yggdrasil will become our 2nd Premium server once Renewal testing is complete, any character created there for testing will be reset to 1/1 Novice when we switch to commercial service. So test Renewal and reserve your name!
This will be a very compact testing season for Renewal, so any bugs found please let us know by ticket and the Renewal Bug Board as well.
I heard some Valkyrie players complaining about your test of renewal…i have to say i agree since you said it was a test we thought we would get to test it also yet you have to be premium to test it? If its in its testing phase shouldnt you want feedback from all able players and in such allow us to also test it.
Then again its up to you and your staff please keep in mind Valkyrie players was looking forward to testing the renewal out to help you but seems we cant.
I can’t say that I really care about Valkyrie not getting testing. I hardly play this game to begin with grinding grinding grinding grinding (having friends doesn’t make the game anymore fun than doing things alone. Only difference is that you have someone to talk to and if really lucky, they will help you with quests and possibly set you up with money and or gear). That is all there is to do in the game well failing at potion creation, food creation and weapon creation. Not to mention failing upgrading armor and weapons. Then having to spend a boat load of money possibly a savings account just to upgrade an item. The same thing with slotting weapons and gears only difference is that one has to use up their zeny to do it. Or wait for an slot advertisement to be sold through kafra, which of course requires real life money to do. I decided I would casually play Ragnarok Online and move on to something else that may hold my interest.
So give the test to premium servers.
