Greetings Midgardians!

Recently we have been reading and having players write in about rumors and their worry over the future or iRO, and I just want to offer assurance that iRO’s future in good hands. As summertime arrives we will soon be officially celebrating our 23rd anniversary and updating “Episode 20 : The Undying” as well. Rest assured that the culmination of 20+ years of iRO player adventures will continue to grow on our Chaos server. During our anniversary celebration we will share a sneak peek of our future game updates into 2027 and beyond.

The rumors that we have heard of involve the Latam and bRO servers down in South America, and we do not want to stay silent and keep player’s worrying about iRO’s future.

For context, last year GVI opened a Latam region service for Ragnarok Online, opening that Latam service was to give players from that region a chance to join a more updated server so they could play Ragnarok as players around the world have, and get updates regularly. Recently the announcement of bRO’s upcoming closure has given some players some worry. The bRO’s service was unique, but that uniqueness made it an impossible endeavor to update the game further and the character data could not be migrated as we normally prefer to do, due to the extreme service differences. We know that preserving your game progress is about the most important thing to MMORPG players, iRO does not have such extreme game differences that would make continued servicing a problem even if migration was to occur, so please don’t worry about that.

We may open more servers and services in the future; to offer different playstyles or new beginnings. One of our most important long-term missions is preserving the history of iRO and always offer a place for adventurers to return home and pick up where they left off. Personally, my characters are here as well, and go back to beta, being a good steward for iRO also has personal meaning to us here.

We were excited to be at PAX East 2026, representing Start with Gravity and our growing lineup of indie games.
From the minute the doors opened, the halls were packed, noisy, and a little chaotic in a way that really does remind you why in person events still matter.

What stood out this year was how visible indie games felt across the floor. Compared to PAX West 2025, where huge publisher booths tended to swallow everything around them, Boston appeared more balanced and easier to just walk and explore. Smaller teams actually had room to show their work, and people looked genuinely happy to wander, stumble into something unexpected, and chat directly with developers at the stations.

Indie games appear to be in a pretty healthy spot right now, at least from what we saw at PAX East 2026. The floor was full of smaller teams showing focused, confident projects that usually held their own next to the big booths. That kind of response may suggest players are actively looking for fresh ideas and specific creator voices, not only the safest sequels. Based on the conversations we had, the next few years of indie releases are likely to feel crowded, but also surprisingly strong.

At our booth, three games kept pulling people back in, Light Odyssey, Galvatein: Adventurer’s Guild, and Twilight Monk. Light Odyssey drew in action fans who enjoy tough fights and the slow, slightly painful process of getting better with each attempt. Galvatein: Adventurer’s Guild clicked with players who liked working the guild reception desk, checking claims, and solving little “did this really happen” cases in a cozy fantasy office. Twilight Monk caught a lot of eyes with its mood, art style, and very satisfying moment to moment gameplay. We got lots of helpful feedback, and watched people return with friends to show off their new favorites..
